About the Artist
Helen Douek was born and raised in Los Angeles, California into a family of artists.
Her formative years were influenced by her family's passion for art, and Helen was encouraged to explore her own artistic abilities. This early interest was formally honed at UCLA where she studied Fine Art.
Professionally, Helen founded and manages a fashion-oriented company -- handling some of the finest textiles in the world. The principles of color, design, and texture are integral to her work. This work simultaneously draws on her artistic nature and also furthers that very nature.
Despite being a working professional, art and painting have always remained key parts of her life. Helen has studied privately with a number of renowned artists and continues to develop and refine her style.
Today she is a prolific artist concentrating primarily on oil and acrylic painting. Helen is best known for her landscapes and takes her influence from the great impressionists. Her art mixes her early influences, her education and world experience into a unique style. She is a member of LAAA and Women Painters West, and her work has been sold nationally and internationally.
Painting from the heart, her canvas is an expression of the joy of art.
